SynopsisMr. Roarke is an elegant and charming character but also very mysterious with a dark and disturbing side. Billionaire, he decided to develop his isolated and heavenly island to welcome his prestigious guests (arrived by seaplane for three days) and make all their fantasies. Thus, against a certain sum of money, he agrees to do everything to ensure that the wishes of his guests are granted: a shy man can become a Casanova; An abandoned woman can reconquer her husband; Some come to be murdered, others to find a lost love or even simulate their burial and see the reactions of their loved ones ... The Fantastic Ile (Fantasy Island) was an American television series which was broadcast between 1978 and 1984. The series featured Ricardo Montalban in the role of Mr. Roarke, the island host, which welcomed guests for realize their wildest dreams. The guests were often confronted with situations which put them to the test and forced them to face their fears and their doubts. The island itself was a mysterious and magical place, filled with strange creatures and fantastic landscapes. The spectator was often left in uncertainty about the real nature of the island and its powers. The series was known for its captivating intrigues and colorful characters, as well as for its light humor and its touch of romance. It was very popular with viewers of the time and was praised for its originality and creativity. The fantastic island was one of the first television programs to highlight Latin American characters as the main hero, and Ricardo Montalban was one of the most prominent Latin American actors of the time. The series was also one of the first to have a diverse distribution, with characters of different ethnic origins and nationalities. Although the fantastic island was only broadcast for six seasons, it left a Duradoué heritage in popular culture and remains one of the most emblematic television series of its time. TriviaThe plane that was used in Fantasy Island was up for auction in the '90s. It was autographed by all the guest stars. Before Fantasy Island this plane was also owned by Richard D. Bach, author of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull".
When 3-D was revived in the early 1980s, some thought was given to shooting an entire episode in 3-D.
The SUV used throughout the series run is a customized 1976 Plymouth Volare station wagon.
