Amanda Tapping was born in Rochford, Essex in England o­n August 28, 1965. She spent a short time in South Benfleet, Essex, and was relocated to Ontario, Canada, at the age of 3. She attended North Toronto High School where she was awarded the Dramatic Arts Award and Environmental Science Award. Her parents always wanted her to go into the science field, but her first love was acting. Amanda studied drama at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario. After graduation, she spent four more years studying theater and appearing in several stage productions. She has appeared in many movies and television shows such as Booty Call (1997), Life or Something Like It (2002), Rent-a-Kid (1995) (TV), "The Outer Limits" (1995) and "The X Files" (1993), however, her real success that seemed to launch her career came in 1997 with the start of the TV series "Stargate SG-1" (1997) where she plays Colonel Samantha Carter.

Born in England, she leaves with her family at the age of 3 years in Canada.

She studied dramatic arts there at the University of Windsor then ended up winning some roles in X-Files and beyond reality.

Meanwhile she married (in 1994) to Allan Kovacs.

It was not until 1997 that she obtained the most important role in her career, that of Captain Samantha Carter, member of the Stargate SG-1 team.

On March 22, 2005 she gave birth to a little girl named Olivia.

She was born on August 28, 1965 in Rochford, Essex, England, but grew up in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. Tapping studied English and theater at the University of Windsor before continuing studies in theater at York University in Toronto.

Tapping started her acting on television in the 1990s, appearing in Canadian television series such as Forever Knight and Street Legal. She also played in films such as The Void and The Last Best Sunday.

However, it is thanks to his role as Samantha Carter in Stargate SG-1 that Tapping became famous. She played in the series from 1997 to 2007, as well as in the Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe spin-offs. Tapping also produced several episodes of the series and produced the Sanctuary television series.

Apart from her acting career, Tapping is also engaged in humanitarian causes. She is a member of the Sanctuary charitable organization management committee, which aims to help children victims of trauma, and is also a member of the board of directors of the Kidsafe association, which aims to protect children against sexual exploitation.
