Charles Haid is an American player and director born June 30, 1943 in San Francisco, California. He is known for his roles in films and television series, especially in the Hill Street Blues and ER series.
Haid started his career as an actor on stage, before appearing in television and cinematographic productions. He played the role of Officer Andy Renko in the Hill Street Blues series from 1981 to 1987, for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 1984. He also played in the ER series as Dr Al Boulet de 1994 to 1997.
In addition to his acting roles, Haid also made several films and episodes of television series, including episodes of Hill Street Blues, ER and NYPD Blue. He also directed the film for television Getting Out in 1994, which won a cableace Award.
Apart from his career as an actor and director, Haid is also a veteran of the Vietnam War and an activist for the rights of veterans. He is a member of the Actor's Gang, a theater troupe based in Los Angeles.
