Biography for David Caruso
An Italian father and Irish mother, David Caruso made his debut in the profession in 1976 in the pilot of the ephemeral Archie series. Not satisfied with its service, production initiates a new actor, Dennis Bowen, who will return all the scenes.
His first appearance on the screen, he made it in 1980 in the feature film Getting Wasted. After small roles in a few series (Hill Street Blues, Chips, Hooker) and films (Officer and Gentleman, Thief of desires), he stands out in China Girl by Abel Ferrara. Enchanted, the filmmaker hired him again, three years later, for his King of New York. David Caruso then replies Bruce Willis in Hudson Hawk and rubs shoulders with Robert de Niro and Uma Thurman on the set of Mad Dog and Glory.
However, it is on the small screen that he finds the consecration. In 1993, Steven Bochco, who remembers his beginnings in a few episodes of Hill Street Blues, confides the Dettective role-star John Kelly in NyPD Blue, alongside a certain Dennis Franz. Hailed by critics, the series earned him appointments at the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards.
Encouraged by this sudden glory, the actor leaves the series at the start of the 2nd season to focus on his film career. Kiss of Death does not have the expected impact on his career. Chaining chess, it gradually falls back into anonymity. It is still television which allows him, a few years later, to come back to the front of the stage with the experts: Miami, 2nd series of the franchise The experts who then was a great success on CBS.
