started at the age of eight to shoot in TV series where he obtained small roles: 21 Jump Street, Quantum Leap and MacGyver.

Priestley began his acting career in the 1980s by playing in television series for Canadian television, especially for the series The Beguiled. In 1990, he obtained his most famous role by playing Brandon Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210, which became a cult series in the United States and launched Priestley's career.

During his career, Priestley also played in films such as Love and Death on Long Island, Die Hard 2 and Calendar Girl. In addition to his acting career, Priestley has also made several episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 and other television series.

Apart from his acting career, Priestley is passionate about car racing and has participated in several professional race competitions. In 2002, he was seriously injured in a car accident during a race, but he recovered and resumed his acting career shortly after.
