John Hillerman was born 20 September 1932 in Denison, Texas.
He is well known for his role as former British military intelligence officer Jonathan Quayle Higgins III ("Higgins") on Magnum, P.I..
Born in 1932 in Texas, John Hillerman was content with small roles before his debut on television in 1975. This allows him to work with stars like Burt Lancaster, Robert Duvall (in the lawyer), Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Peter Bogdanovich (in the last session), Ryan O'Neal (in two films), Mel Brooks (in the sheriff is in prison), Clint Estwood (in the High Plains Man) or Jack Nicholson (in Chinatown ). In the mid -1970s, he became a prestigious second knife and he was engaged on television for the series: Ellery Queen, One Day at Time and The Betty White Show. He continues to turn in feature films but the format of the series seems to suit him. Confirmation with Magnum which allows him to obtain a Golden Globe in 1982, at the same time as his comrade Tom Selleck. Subsequently, the actor will be more discreet: after Magnum, his name appeared in less than a dozen projects. On television, we also saw it for an episode in classics like Hawaii State Police, Kojak, Wonder Woman, for the love of risk or even arabesque. Logically, it has not appeared in the series since the early 90s.
John Hillerman is an American actor known for his role as Higgins in the television series "Magnum, P.I." which was broadcast in the 1980s. He also played in films such as "Blow Out" and "The Last Picture Show". Hillerman was born on December 20, 1932 in Denison, Texas, and grew up in Lubbock, also in Texas. He studied at St. Edward's University in Austin before moving to New York to pursue a career in the theater.
He started his acting career in Broadway, where he played in several plays, including "The Crucible" and "The Rainmaker". In 1972, he made his cinema debut in the film "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean", in which he played the role of Pepper.
Hillerman has also played in many other cinematographic and television productions during his career, notably "Chinatown", "The Other Side of Midnight" and "Murder, She Wrote". His performance in "Magnum, P.I." He earned him four nominations at the Emmy Awards and one at the Golden Globe Awards.
Apart from his acting career, Hillerman was also an accomplished pilot and an aviation enthusiast. He was also an active animal rights defender and supported several charities. Hillerman died on November 9, 2017 at the age of 84.
