Biography for Peter Graves
While growing up in Minnesota, Peter Graves excelled at sports and music (as a saxophonist), and by age 16 he was a radio announcer at WMIN in Minneapolis. After two years in the U.S. Air Force, he studied drama at the University of Minnesota and then headed to Hollywood, where he first appeared on television and later made his film debut in Rogue River (1951). Numerous film appearances followed, especially in Westerns. Graves is primarily recognized for his television work, however, particularly as Jim Phelps in "Mission: Impossible" (1966).

Peter Graves was an American actor known for his roles in many films and television series. He was born on March 18, 1926 in Minneapolis, in the state of Minnesota, in the United States. He grew up in a family of filmmakers and began his acting career at the age of 16 playing in series B films.
During his long career, he played in many films and television series, notably in the television series "Mission: Impossible" in the 1960s, in which he interpreted the main character, Jim Phelps. He also played in films such as "Stalag 17", "The War of the Worlds" and "Airplane!".
Apart from his acting career, Peter Graves was also an activist engaged in social and political causes. He was a member of the committee for an American child without nuclear weapons and also supported the Peace Movement in Vietnam.
Peter Graves died on March 14, 2010 at the age of 84. His death was largely covered by the media and he was praised by his colleagues and admirers for his long and fruitful career in the world of cinema.
