Robert Colbert is an American actor known for his roles in the science fiction television series of the 1950s and 1960s. He was born on July 26, 1929 in San Diego, California, and grew up in the neighboring city of Jolla.
Colbert studied comedy at the University of California, Los Angeles, before starting his acting career on television in the 1950s. He played in many popular television series of that time, notably "The Adventures of Superman "," The Rifleman "and" Perry Mason ".
In 1964, Colbert obtained one of his most famous roles by playing the character of Scott Ballard in the science fiction series "The Time Tunnel". In this series, Colbert interpreted a scientist working on a top-secret time travel project for the Advanced Defense Research Agency (ARAD). The series was a success and was broadcast for two seasons.
After "The Time Tunnel", Colbert continued to play in other television series, including "The Wild Wild West", "The F.B.I." and "The Name of the Game". He also played in some films, notably "The Silencers" with Dean Martin and "The Great White Hope" with James Earl Jones.
Colbert also appeared in television programs and variety shows during his career, including "The Tonight Show" and "The Merv Griffin Show".
Despite his success on television, Colbert never reached international notoriety and he remained mainly known for his roles in the science fiction series of the 1950s and 1960s. He died on January 21, 2021 at the age of 91 years old.
