Biography for Robert Englund
An American leading actor of a number of horror films, probably best known as Freddy Kruger in A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) and all of its sequels. Englund, a boyish, tall and gaunt figure became a cult favorite after that film but had started working in the 70s. He was cast in _Eaten Alive (1976)_ , as a sex crazed maniac directed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre director, Tobe Hooper. From then, he went on to a number of low-budget horror films, including Galaxy of Terror (1981) and _Fifth Floor, The (1980)_ . Then came the big break as Freddy Kruger in 'Elm Street', as the man of bad dreams with the disfigured face, and a red striped shirt with his right hand as razor sharp knives. The film was directed by Wes Craven and was so successful that producers of New Line Cinema had him reprise Freddy in all of the sequels. With the success of the sequels, he played a the title role in the semi-remake of the horror film classic, The Phantom of the Opera (1989) for 21st Century Film Corporation. From then on, Englund has frequently worked with horror director Tobe Hooper, for example in Night Terrors (1993) and The Mangler (1995).
Englund is perhaps the newest horror film actor of our time and hopefully he will continue to scare us and make us scream for years to come. In fact, Englund has just announced he will portray Freddy again in Freddy Vs. Jason (2003), which should be released in about a year or so.
No need to present Robert Englund. Because despite his discretion and humility, the actor has created one of the important characters in fantastic cinema for the past 20 years: Freddy Krueger. A role that necessarily sticks to his skin and here is this Shakespearean actor passionate about painting, blocked in fantastic productions (we have seen it recently in Urban Legend). Long before being the nightmare killer with a burned face, and the nice Viser of V, Robert Englund was already playing in a certain number of series B and appeared in a lot of series like funny ladies or chips. The naivety of his gaze and his courtesy hide a great professional.
Robert Englund is an American actor born June 6, 1947 in Glendale, California. He is best known for his role as Freddy Krueger in the series of films "Les Griftes de la Nuit". Englund began her acting career in the 1970s and has played in many theater, television and cinema productions. He was nominated for a Saturn Award in 1984 for his role in "Les Grifes de la Nuit" and won the Prix for Best Actor at the Gérardmer Fantastic Festival in 1988 for his role in "The Nightmare of Freddy". Englund also played in films such as "V", "The return of the living dead" and "The country of darkness". He is recognized for his acting talent and for his ability to embody scary and terrifying characters.
