In 1996, Ross founded The Alive Church, a non-denominational Christian church in Los Angeles, and was its pastor for four years. He now operates his own entertainment production company, Tri-Seven Entertainment. He has been married for 12 years and has two children.

Eager to maintain good relations with his father, he obtained the right to visit him during the holidays. It was then that he was with his father that a Hollywood agent advised his father to make him participate in castings to turn advertisements.
It worked well since as early as 1979 he participated in many advertisements. In 1980, he participated with 250 other children, in the casting intended to find Dudley, Arnold's best friend, and was finally chosen. From 1981 to 1986 when the series is stopped, he participated in nearly 40 episodes.
After the stop of the series, he participated in many other series and a few films: MacGyver, The Fires of Love, the Prince of Bel Air, Chicago Hope, Love Glory and Beauty, family life, Magnum, Native sound with Oprah Winfrey, and many others.
Three years after the sudden death of his father of a heart attack at 38, Shavar decided to become a "Christian born again" and began to take teaching courses of the Bible. After 4 years of lessons to become a priest, Shavar created a parish in Hollywood, The Alive Church in which he served 4 years as a priest.
