Synopsis

This series features the adventures of the flamboyant Jason King, successful author of detective novels and head of the department S, a department of Interpol intended to settle the most obscure affairs.

Department was a British television series from the 1970s which was broadcast in the United States under the title Department S. The series featured a group of investigators working for the department S, a special unit responsible for solving complex criminal cases and insoluble. The group was made up of Jason King, a famous and charming writer, Stewart Sullivan, an experienced detective, and Annabelle Hurst, a science expert. Together, they were traveling worldwide to resolve crimes and put the criminals behind bars.

The series was created by Dennis Spooner and was broadcast for the first time in 1969. It lasted three seasons and was broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom and on the American channel ABC. The series was greeted for its light and fun tone, as well as for its charismatic and endearing characters. In addition, the series was noticed for its complex and well constructed intrigue, as well as for its special effects for the time.

Despite its success at the time, department was largely forgotten and was no longer disseminated. However, it remains a cult series for fans of the golden age of British television in the 1970s.

Trivia

This series known a sequel in 1971, entitled Jason King. Often in the series, a character can stand out with his charisma, an attitude, this Je-ne-sais-quoi in addition which brings the spectator back, and well it was The case for Peter Wyngarde, with his mustache like José Bové, who draws the attention of production, which therefore dedicated a "spin-off" to him. There was no follow-up to this series, as there was no more for "Jason King". Note that the character of Austin Powers was created according to that of Jason King.
