Trivia

Series premise created by Don Johnson and Hunter S. Thompson. Thompson can be seen briefly as a restaurant piano player in the premiere episode.

Nash shares a playful love/hate relationship with Caitlin Cross. In "Miami Vice" (1984), Johnson's character shared an edgier, more intense one with pop star Caitlin Davies (played by Sheena Easton).

Nash Bridges' 1971 Hemi 'Cuda isn't, in fact, a 1971 Hemi 'Cuda. It's actually a 440 'Cuda done up to look like a Hemi 'Cuda with a Shaker hood (an option on 440s, but standard on Hemi 'Cudas) and a few Hemi emblems.

Don Johnson not only starred in the series, but co-created it and owned a percentage of it. When the show went into syndication, he did quite well financially.

The script that Hunter S. Thompson and Don Johnson wrote and pitched to NBC was much darker than the series ended up, and wasn't particularly suitable for prime time. In it, Nash was a drug addict who was dating the daughter of a wanted San Francisco mafia figure.

In the series finale on 5/4/01 "Fair Game", CBS announced the show as the season finale but due to budget problems with the show, DJ and CBS pulled the plug on the series.

Pro wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's character, Jake Cage, was considered for a possible spin-off.

Originally, James Gammon's character, Nick Bridges, was to have had Alzheimer's Disease, however, that characteristic was gradually phased out with no explanation.

Don Johnson is the only cast member to appear in all 122 episodes of the series.
