Trivia

Origin of the series:

In 1987, Richard Barett, a teacher of a Lycée de Banlieu de Sydney wrote his first play, "The Heartbreak Kid" who talks about two Australians of Greek origin, Christina and Nick, who fell in love.

But they have a problem: Christina is a professor in a high school and Nick one of her students.

The play was seen by Ben Gannon who offered to make a film of it.

This film was released in 1993 in Australia and is directed and co-written by Michael Jenkins.

It is a real success at the box office where the film is in second position of the year in terms of recipes.

The producers then decided to launch a series from the film in which they could realistically portray the life of ordinary Australian adolescents.

The series was then launched in 1994 on ABC in Australia.
