The series was created by Jeffrey Lewis and Maurice Phillips and was produced by the company Aaron Spelling Productions. Lady Blue followed the adventures of the detective Christine Cagney (interpreted by Sharon Gless) and her partner, Mary Beth Lacey (Tyne Daly), while they worked in the New York criminal brigade. Lady Blue was a dramatic detective series that featured exciting investigations and complex characters. The series tackled themes such as romantic relationships, sexism at work and cultural differences in the city of New York. The series was acclaimed by criticism and won numerous prizes, including six Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Sharon Gless also received a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in the series. Lady Blue was broadcast for seven seasons, from 1985 to 1992. The series was very popular with viewers and became one of the most watched police series of the time.
