Rescue Me is an American television series created by Denis Leary and Peter Tolan, broadcast between 2004 and 2011 on the FX network. The series follows the members of the New York fictitious fire station, the 62nd squadron, while they are facing the dangers and challenges of their work while trying to manage their personal life. The main characters are Lieutenant Tommy Gavin, a firefighter who has trouble dealing with the loss of his cousin and teammate in the attacks of September 11, 2001, and his colleagues in the barracks, including Franco Rivera, Mike Silletti and Sean GARRITY.

The show was widely praised for its realistic and emotional use of the impact of the September 11 attacks on New York firefighters, and won several prizes for its representation of the firefighters against the ravages of alcoholism and mental disorders. The series was also criticized for its violent content and sexual jokes.
