The Bionic Woman
SynopsisJaimie Sommers, a former tennis champion, owes life to her fiancé who proposed it in an experimental cybernetics program. Following a serious parachute accident, the young woman has an ear, an arm and both artificial legs. Endowed with special powers of force and hearing, Jaimie is, alas, amnesiac and only a few old photos bring her the proof of the tender relationship she had with the old astronaut. Beautiful player, Steve Austin (the man who was worth three billion) comes out of his life. Jaimie recycles herself in teaching and remains available to O.S.I for ad hoc missions. Super Jaimie (The Bionic Woman) was an American television series broadcast between 1976 and 1978. The series was based on the character of Jaimie Sommers, an ordinary woman who after a serious accident, is endowed with bionic prostheses which give him supernatural powers such as superhuman force and increased speed. She is helped in her missions by Dr. Rudy Wells and the secret agency OSI, which give her missions aimed at protecting the nation against the forces of evil. The series was popular for its use of action and adventure, as well as for its presentation of strong and independent characters. She was also praised for her way of dealing with themes such as self -acceptance and women's empowerment. Super Jaimie was interpreted by Lindsay Wagner, who won a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in 1978. The ActorsTriviaIt should be noted that the "Super Jaimie" series is the result of public pressure. Indeed, Jaimie makes an appearance in 2 double episodes of the man who was worth three billion where she died by rejecting her bionic implants. His role in Lee Majors's series had been written to raise the average age of the spectator. At his "death", viewers wrote so much to the production that the character was saved and was awarded his own series while recovering the character of Oscar Goldman, a sort of red thread. But to maintain an autonomy of narration, the creator made Jaimie amnesia following the treatment by cryogenization which made it possible to keep it alive while you change! After the second season, Universal sold the series to NBC. This is how crossover have disappeared. Finally, only Richard Anderson retained his role on the two channels and Oscar Goldman therefore worked for two competitors. This is also the reason why, after the successes of the SF even in the cinema (Star Wars was released in 1977), season 3 is frankly colored science fiction at the risk sometimes of brushing the ridicule.
