James Farentino was an American actor known for his roles in films and television series. He was born on February 24, 1938 in New York, and grew up in the Brooklyn district. His career began in the mid -1960s, and he played in many films, such as "The Pad and How To Use It" and "The Final Countdown". Farentino was also a member of the Actor's Studio Theater troupe, and has played in several Broadway productions.
He became famous thanks to his roles in television series, notably in "Dynasty", where he played the role of Michelle Carrington, and "St. Elsewhere", where he played Dr. Mark Craig. Farentino has also appeared in series like "The Bold Ones: The Lawyers", "The Streets of San Francisco", and "The Love Boat".
Apart from his acting career, Farentino was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of American actors (SAG), and participated in awareness campaigns against domestic violence. He died on January 24, 2012 at the age of 73.

Trivia
- Was charged with stalking Tina Sinatra (daughter of Frank Sinatra).
- Arrested in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 23, 1991 after Royal Canadian Mounted Police intercepted a package containing 3.2 grams of cocaine being sent to his hotel room. Farentino was in town filming the TV movie "Miles From Nowhere". He was charged with cocaine possesion and released on bail.
- Won the Theatre World Award for recreating the role of Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire" in 1973.
- In 2003, after a long down period, he received rave reviews on the L.A. stage playing a Russ Meyer-like porn producer in "Boy Gets Girl."
- One of the last contract stars (Universal) in the late 60s.
