After studying French and dramatic art in California, Kathy Baker went to settle in Paris for ten years, far from the cinematographic environment. In the early 1980s, she returned to her lands, eager to make a name for herself as an actress. Her wishes are quickly granted since in 1983, she held the star of the play Fool for Love by Sam Shepard and appears to the casting of the drama the Etofffes of the Héros by Philip Kaufman.
Kathy Baker then marks spirits with difficult roles. Prostitute in the street, alcoholic in Clean and Sober, she collects the votes of her peers in the absence of real public recognition.
