She grew up on the upper East side of Manhattan, and played in Central Park, without incident. She went to school all around the New York area - places like : Riverdale, Larchmont, (a famous spot because Joan Rivers is from there) Stamford, Conn. and she graduated from Mamaroneck High, in Westchester County, N.Y.
"Dizzy and Jimmy" (the book she just wrote) covers her years performing in New York from 1950 until around 1953, and her time with James Dean. She went to the Virgin Sheslands to live in '53 and was there when Jimmy died. After a few trips home to see her Mom, she spent the next 13 or so years in the Caribbean, mostly in San Juan, Puerto Rico, dancing, playing piano and singing in clubs and hotels. she's working on a new book about these experiences - her years in the islands, then back to New York and finally on to Hollywood in 1980.
She is famous, not for her filmography where she always had discreet small roles, but for her affair, which should have led to marriage, with James Dean. It is only in the early 1980s that she became an actress but no role, in the cinema as on TV, will live up to her talent.
Apart from her role in Alf, she was also regularly the mother of Jerry Seinfeld.
