Melinda grew up in the Boston area, the youngest of three artistic girls. She was a member of the Boston Children's Theater and attended Buckingham Browne and Nichols school. She attended Bennington College briefly until she was accepted at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. After appearing in many theatrical productions in London's West End and around the UK (including "Twelfth Night", "Don Carlos", "The Foreigner") she returned to the States in 1990. Some of her most interesting TV/film appearances include: as Dana Scully's sister Melissa in "The X Files" (1993), Larry's ambitious girlfriend in "The Larry Sanders Show" (1992) opposite Garry Shandling, Leanne Guilford in Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000) opposite Eddie Murphy, and Jenny Ferguson in Kevin Spacey's directorial debut, Albino Alligator (1996). Ms. McGraw is married to composer/recording artist Steve Pierson and they have a daughter.
She lived in Beirut and Pakistan before her family moved to the USA (Boston) when she was 4 years old.
