SynopsisThis 1960s series recounts the adventures of Josh Randall, bonus hunter in the West West, armed with a 44/40 Winchester Caliber 1892 with a button and sawn. In the name of the law (Wanted: Dead or Alive in original version) was an American television series which was broadcast between 1958 and 1961. The series featured Steve McQueen in the role of Josh Randall, a premium hunter living West. In the series, Josh Randall is a former soldier of the American Civil War who now uses his skills as a sniper to track criminals and renew them for award. With his special rifle at a time, the "Mare's Leg", Randall is a real formidable for the outlaws he pursues. During the series, Randall faces many criminals, ranging from banking thieves to serial killers, including Confederate war criminals. He is often helped in his missions by secondary characters such as Marshal Mike Graining and Sheriff Jonas Cord. On behalf of the law was one of the first television programs to showcase a bonus hunter as a hero, and was very popular with the public of the time. Steve McQueen was a great success in the role of Randall, and the series launched his career as a film actor. Despite its popularity, the series lasted only three seasons before being canceled in 1961.
