SynopsisIn California of the early 19th century still led by the crown of Spain, Don Diego de la Vega is a discreet aristocrat. However, when he puts his mask and his black hat, he becomes Zorro, hero handling the sword to perfection and defending the weakness of the tyranny of Commander Monastorio. Zorro is an American television series created in 1957. It is inspired by the fictional character created by Johnston McCulley in 1919, a masked vigilante called Zorro (which means "fox" in Spanish) which fights injustice in California at the beginning of the 19th century . Selevision was broadcast for two seasons and has 78 episodes. The series featured Guy Williams in the role of Don Diego de la Vega / Zorro, a noble from Los Angeles who pretended to be a coward to hide his secret identity as vigilante. Zorro was helped in his adventures by his faithful servant Bernardo, a silent Indian played by Gene Sheldon. The series was very popular at the time of its dissemination and helped strengthen the image of Zorro as hero of the fight against oppression.
