Don Johnson (born December 15, 1949) is an actor best known for his film and television appearances. He became a household name as a result of his co-starring role in the popular 1980s cop series, Miami Vice. In the late 1960s he was one of the male contestants on the popular television show, The Dating Game. Married twice to actress Melanie Griffith and currently married to Kelley Phleger of San Francisco. Ms. Phleger is related to the Gettys of Getty Oil. Mr. Johnson has a son with Patti D'Arbanville, Jesse, born December 1982, a daughter with Melanie Griffith, Dakota born October 1989, and a daughter with Kelley, Atherton Grace, born April 1999.
Don Johnson began as an actor in 1970 in a melodrama "The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart", then chained on the western "Zachariah" (1971), the Olé-Olé-Ole clinic in the film "The Harrad Experiment" (1973), "Return To Macon County "(with as unknown at the time, Nick Nolte), and the science fiction film" A Boy and his Dog ", these two films dating from 1975. - Made his professional debut in the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, in "Your Own Thing," a rock musical modeled after Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." Won a full drama scholarship to the University of Kansas. Made five pilots for NBC early in his career. All were rejected.

- Got his big break into stardom by starring in the controversial off-Broadway play, Fortune and Men's Eyes, which was directed and starred Sal Mineo.
